Bookish Adventure #1: Little Free Libraries

I couldn’t have thought of a better way to start off a new year than by going on a bookish adventure.

A friend wanted to know if I’ll join her to donate books to Little Free Libraries and, of course, I said yes! (I even found some books on my own shelves to donate as well.) She didn’t even know yet one of my goals this year was to go on Bookish Adventures with others!

We met up at a Filipino food cart for breakfast which was a New Year’s Day tradition we decided to continue.

What was cool about this excursion- besides that I had another friend who loved checking out little free libraries- was that she had mapped out the ones by her house for a school project. Also, we drove- instead of walked- and were mindful not to put more than necessary in each one. We were intentional in distributing the book love!

We visited a total of six little free libraries but two of them were already full. I even managed to get us lost by recommending we walk to one that I liked not realizing it was the one we had just left! In my defense, I think it had been repainted since the last time I saw it.

I had to restrain myself from taking a couple of the books from her stack since I wanted to read them myself.

I had a wonderful time and am looking forward to more bookish adventures in 2023!

  1. Nice adventure! I checked out two little free libraries when I was visiting Maryland last week, but it wasn’t intentional. Whenever I see one in my travels, I like to stop and see what’s there!
